The King Of Pop May Perform In Sin City

June 16, 2008

“One More Chance” for the King of Pop?

It remains unknown if Michael Jackson can put his “Smooth Criminal” charges of child molestation – which tarnished his reputation and financial status three years ago – behind him.

However, the investment firm which recently bought the loan on Jackson’s Neverland Ranch, Colony Capital, is discussing various repayment options for his massive US$23 million debt.

One option for the 49-year old pop superstar is to sign on as a resident performer of a Vegas casino or nightclub for 180 nights a year, a source close to the talks said.

“We’ve been having discussions with Mr Jackson about a recapitalisation and refinancing of Neverland in addition to various other business opportunities and mutual interests.” Colony Capital CEO Tom Barrack said.

Colony Capital, based in Los Angeles, owns the Las Vegas Hilton and is a major shareholder in the Station Casinos chain.

The deal has not been sealed, but it is merely one of the ideas that has been suggested by the firm to find loan payment scenarios.

Colony is also urging the singer to make a comeback by appearing on TV, notably on Oprah Winfrey’s show, to make a public statement and to put the controversy behind him, reported Reuters.

And of course, to show the world he can still “Beat It” by singing and dancing to the top again.
